Troubleshooting
Start with the symptom you can observe. Apply one change at a time, then retry the smallest Quick Start example.
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
The example prints Not attached every second | Is a USB-C charger plugged into the board, and is the slide switch on? The HUSB238 takes its power from USB-C, not from the I2C header. Both libraries read a failed I2C transfer as 0, which shows up as Not attached. | Plug in the charger and switch the slide switch on. Check SDA, SCL and GND against the Quick Start table. |
Still Not attached with the charger plugged in and the switch on | Does the bus have pull-up resistors on SDA and SCL? The board has none. | Use a controller board with I2C pull-ups, or add pull-up resistors on SDA and SCL. |
| The output voltage is lower than the one you set | Does the charger offer that voltage? If it does not, the HUSB238 takes the next lower one the charger offers. | Use a charger that offers the voltage you need. |
Invalid voltage value, use 5/9/12/15/18/20 | The voltage in the request example is not one of the six the board can ask for. | Set REQUEST_VOLTAGE to 5, 9, 12, 15, 18 or 20. |
Charger does not support this voltage | The charger does not advertise the voltage you requested. | Request a voltage the charger offers, or use a charger that offers it. |
Charger rejected the request | The charger did not confirm the request within the 300 ms the library waits. | Reset the controller to send the request again, or try another voltage. |
| The output turns off | Did the input rise above 1.2 times the requested voltage? The HUSB238 turns the output off then. | |
| The output drops to 5 V | The HUSB238 falls back to 5 V when its junction reaches 150 °C. | Let the board cool down. |
The purple LED stays off while VOUT is on | Is JP1 cut? Cutting it disables the LED. | |
MicroPython raises Board not recognized, enter I2C pins manually | The module was created without an I2C object on a board it does not recognise. | Create the I2C bus yourself and pass it in, as the examples do: HUSB238(i2c). |
