Troubleshooting
Start with the symptom you can observe. Apply one change at a time, then retry the smallest Quick Start example.
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Arduino prints Error: BMP585 not connected, check wiring and I2C address! once a second | The four wires (3V3, GND, SDA, SCL) or the Qwiic cable, and the ADDRESS jumper (JP3) | Reseat the wiring. If you moved the ADDRESS jumper, the sensor is at 0x46: call begin(BMP5_I2C_ADDR_PRIM) instead of begin(). |
MicroPython raises BMP585 not responding on address 0x47 | The wiring, and the pins passed to I2C(0, scl=Pin(9), sda=Pin(8)) | Match the pin numbers to your wiring. With the ADDRESS jumper moved, import the address with from bmp585 import BMP5_I2C_ADDR_PRIM and create the sensor with BMP585(i2c, address=BMP5_I2C_ADDR_PRIM). |
MicroPython raises Board not recognized, enter I2C pins manually | Whether you created BMP585() without an I2C object on a port the module does not recognise: it picks pins itself only when uname().sysname is esp32, esp8266 or one Soldered board firmware it names | Pass your own bus, as the examples do: BMP585(i2c). |
The interrupt example prints BMP585 connected! but no readings | The wire from the breakout's INT pin to the controller | The Arduino sketch listens on pin 2 (interruptPin), the MicroPython script on pin 5 (INT_PIN). Wire INT to that pin or change the number. |
| Pressure reads 0 while temperature changes | Whether pressure measurement was turned off with pressureEnable (Arduino) or press_en (MicroPython) set to false | The sensor then measures temperature only. Set it back to true / True, the default. |
| Two of these boards on one bus | The ADDRESS jumper on both boards | Both start at 0x47. Move one board's ADDRESS jumper to 0x46 and pass that address to begin() or BMP585(). Only two addresses exist, so at most two boards can share a bus. |
| The board was connected to 5 V | The supply on 3V3 and the controller's logic level | The board is 3.3 V only, with no regulator or level shifter, and the BMP585 is rated to 3.6 V. Power it from 3.3 V and use a 3.3 V controller. |
