Quick Start

This board has no chip and no code of its own. It is an Ethernet socket with the isolation transformers built in, so you wire its header to an Ethernet chip and use whatever software that chip needs.

1. Connect the breakout board

Solder the included header pins to the board if you want to use a breadboard, then connect the header to your Ethernet chip:

Ethernet chipSoldered RJ45 MagJack breakout
Transmit pair, positiveP1 (TD+)
Transmit pair, negativeP2 (TD-)
Receive pair, positiveP3 (RD+)
Receive pair, negativeP6 (RD-)
Transmit and receive centre tapsP4 and P5, as your chip's datasheet shows
GroundP8 (CHS GND) and SH

Leave P7 unconnected, it is marked NC. The pins marked G+, G-, Y+ and Y- need no connection: the board has no LED, and nothing on it uses them.

The two centre taps are the middle points of the transformer windings. Chips bias or decouple them in different ways, so follow the datasheet of the chip you use.

2. Plug in the cable

Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ45 socket and connect the other end to your network.

3. If it does not work

Continue with Troubleshooting and retry after each change.
