Soldered RJ45 MagJack breakout
An RJ45 socket with built-in magnetics for 10/100 Ethernet, with every pin on a breadboard-friendly 13-pin header.
This board puts an Ethernet socket on a small board and brings every pin out to one 2.54 mm header. MagJack means the isolation transformers that every Ethernet port needs (the magnetics) sit inside the socket. Your Ethernet chip's transmit and receive pins connect straight to the header, with no extra transformer on your side.
The socket is the HanRun HR913550A, built for 10/100 Mbit Ethernet. The board has no LED of its own.
The header carries the transmit and receive pairs, the two centre taps, chassis
ground, the shield and the four socket pins marked G+, G-, Y+ and Y-. The
board has no Ethernet chip of its own. You connect it to one.
Two things to know before you wire it up:
- The board carries only the socket and the header, with no other electronic components.
- Connect chassis ground (
P8) and the shield (SH) to the ground of your circuit.
